Biography
Katarina Löfvenhaft defended her thesis "Spatial and temporal
perspectives on biodiversity for physical planning" in December
2002. She is continuously affiliated to the Department of Physical
Geography and Quaternary Geology, Stockholm University. In addition,
although working as an ecologist at the Stockholm City Planning
Administration, strategic planning department (during 1989-1997
and from 2003).
Katarina´s
principle research interest is within biogeography and the development
of methods for empirical spatio-temporal studies on environmental
issues regarding landscape dynamics and biodiversity that are applicable
to urban planning. Parts of her PhD-work have been conducted within
the framework of real planning situations at Stockholm City Planning
Administration. Recently she received a Postdoc Scholarship (Royal
Swedish Academy of Sciences) in South Africa, Potchefstroom University.
