Biography
Nick Williams is a Research Officer at the Australian Research Centre
for Urban Ecology. He started at ARCUE in 1998 after working with
the Victorian Department of Natural Resources and Environment's
Flora Ecology section. Research and survey work in a wide variety
of environments has provided him with a detailed understanding of
the ecology of many south-eastern Australian vegetation communities
and their component species.
Nicks current
research interests include the conservation of native grasslands,
the landscape ecology of urban areas, ecological economics and restoration
ecology. He has a particular interest in present and historical
vegetation patterns and the influence of vegetation management techniques
on the diversity and structure of plant communities. In 2002, Nick
commenced a PhD at the University of Melbourne studying the influence
of landscape context on the ecology of native grasslands in south-eastern
Australia.
